Authentic, Yet New (Or So Says Their Business Card)...

The first place I would like to review I found a few months ago while watching my friend's dog and since then have been enchanted by their authetic use of corn tortillas...They offer an upgrade to flour tortillas for $1, but do not be fooled- the corn tortillas are what make this place so goddamn delicious...the prices are reasonable and they are the perfect snack for those times when you leave work, want to go out and are looking for a fast chow session in between...

So my friend and I enter this land of tacos on Wednesday, already with an idea of what we want in mind...I have thus far had a sampling of the different kinds of tacos they make, but have so far been all about the tacos...However, the vibe I get lead me to believe that their other plates (chalupas, quesadillas, etc...) would be equally tasty....

We both have the same thing- a chicken taco and a beef taco and originally order it to go, but decide to sit down....They immediately bring over chips and salsa...The chips have a light dusting of salt and the salsa is spicy and tastes like there are actual tomatos and cilantro in there- very nice!!...
And when the tacos arrive, they look like perfectly folded little tasty treats, little bundles of joy with the best looking guacamole ever! It sits ever so delicately on top, seeming to call to me like how a creme brule asks for it's top layer to be broken with a spoon....

It's begging for me to bite into it, and it gets it....I first put a little salsa on top, take that first magical bite, and with that comes a rush of well seasoned chicken, guacamole and corn tortilla, spicy but not where it's not funny but your face is on fire...The beef one I liked more, it wasn't ground or shredded beef but little strips cook so that they were still tender but had a nice resistance to my chewing....Sometimes beef has the ability to disappiont in that the beef strips can get too jerky-like, but this one was perfect....

Between the tasty food and the service it was the perfect meal to have after a long day in an office....almost made me feel like I took a little trip down Mexico way....terrific....check out the ambience below......

Hopefully I can track down a taco place in London, how hilarious would that be? Well, here's to cerveza wishes and taco-laden dreams.....
As Always,

To New Beginnings y Tacos Muy Picantes...

So, I guess to introduce myself, and get this taco party started, I should explain what this blog will hopefully achieve and the reasons behind it....Besides just waxing poetic on something that is both extremely satisfying and incredibly awesome in it's spiciness, I have really had only one love in my life- that love being tacos and all things inter-related....

Some might see this as a sad start in matters of the heart, but I could care less- point being the fact that my love for tacos knows no bounds & is so heartfelt it proves that not only do I have a heart, but I have really great taste to boot...

My love of tacos began in a somewhat primitive way- the requisite fast food Taco Bell visits as a child...the only really good thing about Taco Bell is the Choco Taco (so good it's bad, so wrong it's right) and the fact that its name can be easily made into Taco Hell, which if there is reincarnation, all tacos that are not up to snuff are reincarnated as tacos of the Taco Bell variety....forced to live out their afterlives filled with substandard meats, cheeses and, god help us, spices of a dubious nature...

Understandable, that this was my beginning in the world of tacos, but now I am on a quest in life to try and discover some of the best tacos joints in NYC and around the world for that matter...I do it as a labor of love, one that I have habored for years and every day is just as wonderful and fulfilling as the last....I want to not only give myself a reason to really study tacos and what makes them so amazing, but once I categorized and organize my shiz, I want to share my findings with people- get some feedback, hear some suggestions, maybe even get into some heated discussions on what I post....because really, that's what tacos are all about- raw heat and spiciness...

I can't say how often I will update, but there's definitely a willpower and determination to expose a hidden taco community of wonderment....So cheers, and enjoy....

Yours Truly,

Taco Belle
